In a last ditch effort to prevent a French man from shooting himself in the head with a shotgun while his heartbroken wife screamed desperately in the background, French police cleverly positioned themselves on the top of neighboring houses armed with guns of their own in an attempt to disable the man and ultimately save his life. The plan worked as well as it could have, as the man immediately dropped the gun when shot in the thigh.
I cannot imagine the wife’s initial grief after she heard a gun being fired, undoubtedly thinking her husband had pulled the trigger on himself. Her elation is evident when authorities assure her that it was they who shot at him and saved his life. Hopefully, this is a wakeup call for the poor guy and he can work to put his demons to rest.
