Old Bay Beer Now Exists

Are you ready for your beer to be SPICY BEER?? Well, you don’t really have a choice. Actually, you kind of do. You don’t have to drink spicy beer, but regardless of whether you want it or not, it’s still going to exist.

What the fuck am I talking about? I’m talkin’ ’bout Old Bay Beer, from the pride of Maryland, Flying Dog Brewery. Dead Rise Old Bay Summer Ale is their newest concoction and it promises to be… well, it promises to be a beer flavored with Old Bay. It hasn’t promised much more than that. It might be delicious with crabs, but the brewers haven’t explicitly stated that.

Let’s go to the press release!

Dead Rise OLD BAY Summer Ale will highlight the indelible character of OLD BAY through bright and refreshing citrus hop character and a crisp, tart finish. OLD BAY is added to the whirlpool imparting a bold aroma followed by hints of flavor throughout the beer. The finish is dry, snappy, and perfect for our hot and humid summers.

The name Dead Rise comes from deadrise boats, which are commercial fishing and crabbing vessels designed and built specifically to navigate the unique waterways of the Chesapeake Bay. The bottom near the bow is a V-shape to cut through the often-choppy Bay. Then, it flattens out closer to the stern, making it more navigable in shallow water.

The beer is 5.6 ABV and will be available throughout the summer in the Mid-Atlantic.

All joking aside, I bet it’s delicious. Flying Dog’s Raging Bitch is the best IPA in America and their Oyster Stout is phenomenally tasty. They know what they are doing.
