NBC News’ Richard Engel is one of the bravest people on the planet. If there’s a tumultuous rebellion happening anywhere in the world, he goes and reports on it amid the bullets. Honestly, I don’t even know how he walks around with those gigantic balls.
But the inevitable happened five days ago. Engel, his producer Ghazi Balkiz, and cameraman John Kooistra were kidnapped in Syria. Their whereabouts and status were unknown until late last night, when they were released.
The trio went on the “Today Show” this morning to recount the experience and, shit, it sounds like something straight of “Homeland.”
