Today, Slate started up a promising series that will animate the entire 2012 election in the style of Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat, of course, being the first game that really desensitized a generation of us from hardcore violence, turning us into the soulless, unfeeling robots that we are today.

Mitt Romney takes on Rick Santorum in the first episode below. And for anyone looking for the brutality found in the Mortal Kombat games, you might be bummed to know that Slate keeps the decapitations and heart-rips to a minimum—Santorum fights with his famous sweater vest, while Romney utilizes Mormon missionary attacks.
