What are the chances that “the marijuana industry” becomes a lot smaller than we think? In order to control and tax the shit out of it, state governments will probably never have truly univerial regulations so that one — or a few — businesses can thrive like they do with big tobacco and booze. Right now it's in the best interest to stay local, giving co-ops and mom and pop shops/growers have the majority of the power.

After all, it is just a plant. In terms of a business, it's could be like trying to say a geranium nursery is going to be the next Google. That's just silly. So let's all pump our jets.
