While sitting in the St. Louis Cardinals' broadcast booth -- discussing Marine Week -- Col. Shane Tomko took the opportunity to joke about killing Roy Halladay because he was pitching well against the Cards that day. We've all been there haven't we? Hell, I wanted Karl Malone to die a few times in the 90s but I'd never go on-air (sober) and say, “I’ll tell you what, with that M1A1 Abrams we got across the street, if Halladay keeps on pitching well, we can fix that with one round pretty quickly.” But then again, I've never had access to a M1A1 Abrams.
I don't think it's the worst thing in the world; I'm sure he was joking. But he did make the announcer awfully uncomfortable with that comment and after the guy was even like "Hey, I agree, but that's pretty f*cked up to say and shit." Col. Tomko reminded him of something, "I can say whatever I want because I’m a war fighter, and this is the Cardinals Nation the last time I checked." And then he went reiterate the fact that killing Halladay was just one bullet away. Video below.
