I'm watching Mayor Bloomberg give another press conference right now, and while I obviously have a vested interest in what he's saying—I live in Manhattan and am worried about others in flooded areas without power—I can't keep my eyes off the woman to his right. Her name is Lydia Callis, and she's a rockstar here.

Ever since Bloomberg began updating New York on the storm, Callis, his sign language interpretor, has been at his side. She does her job very well and with flair. Her face stays as animated as a mime, which people fluent in ASL have said is a crucial part of the signing process. She's also damn cute.
