An Unfathomable Amount Of People Are Getting Laid From Tinder, According To These Stats

Speaking at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity the co-founder of Tinder, Sean Rad, claimed that in the 2.5 years Tinder has existed they have already facilitated over 8 billion matches (2 billion in just the past two months).

In his opening remarks at the annual circle jerk of who’s who in media, Sean Rad claimed that Tinder is now up to 16,000 swipes-per-second, which means a truly unfathomable amount of people are getting laid via Tinder these days. By the way, this is the same co-founder who was ousted as CEO by Barry Diller, CEO of IAC (parent group of Tinder), after Sean Rad was caught drawing Diller’s initials in the shape of a cock and balls. Sean Rad still remains President of Tinder and a Director within the company, so he wasn’t completely ousted by the infamous Diller.

How much is 16,000 swipes per second throughout the course of a day? Tinder is currently registering 1.4 BILLION swipes a day, and 300 swipes a second.

PageSix reports from the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity:

The two-and-a-half year old hook-up app hit an astonishing 8 billion matches and gets 16,000 swipes a second, said Rad, speaking here as the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity kicks off.
As of April, Tinder had a total of 6 billion matches, according to its download page on iTunes – which translates into roughly 195 million matches per month.
In the last two months, it added 2 million matches – or 1 billion a month – kicking up the monthly average matches by five fold. Tinder has been rolling out into more and more countries in recent months and is now available in 159 countries.
nsisting that one of the missions of Tinder was not about seeking sexual partners, but to “cure human loneliness,” he said, “The people that you meet really shape who you are, every person you meet has the potential to change your life, we all want this sense of belonging and community and to get closer to the world around us . . . that’s where Tinder comes in, it’s about bringing people closer together.”
The fact that Tinder helped create nearly 8 billion matches – “which never would have existed if not for Tinder,” Rad said – is “humbling.”
Tinder, which is owned by Barry Diller’s IAC/InterActiveCorp and is part of its Match Group, gets 300 matches a second, 1.4 billion swipes a day and 16,000 swipes a second, Rad said.
“As a company to operate on that kind of a scale is fascinating, when your audience is so global and diverse.” The average user spends 11 minutes on Tinder a day, he said.

Even with 16,000 swipes a second, 1.4 billion swipes a day, and 2 billion matches in the past two months I still find it outrageous that Tinder is currently valued in the $5 BILLION range. It’s just a hookup app, and the next great hookup app could come along at any point and put Tinder out of business.

That said, the numbers they’re putting up are insane right now. If they were smart they’d get into the contraception and condom business ASAP, because they’re facilitating a foolish amount of hookups….8 billion to be exact.
