Even if it bought 20 new pairs of skinny jeans, there is nothing that could make this story more ironic. 

39-year-old Raymond Dolin of West Virginia was rushed to the hospital Saturday night after falling victim to a random drive-by while waiting for a ride by the side of Highway 2 in Montana.

Adding insult to injury, Dolin is said to be in the midst of penning a memoir entitled The Kindness of America.

Kind of funny when you think about it; this story is sure to give the book a tremendous amount of unintentional exposure, but the event itself completely compromises the notion of the book. Classic battle between money and artistic integrity.

Will be interesting to see young Jack Kerouac's next move. Either way, here's to hoping the book sounds like something written by those kids who smoke cigarettes outside the library at 4am.
