Hot damn. Japan sure does have a different way of going about things, doesn't it?
According to Japanese Daily Press:
In another sports-related bullying incident, a volleyball coach from Hamamatsu Nittai senior high school in Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan was caught on video repeatedly slapping a male student, hitting him at least 13 times in 16 seconds. The video has gone viral on YouTube, with over 1.6 million views by Wednesday.
This is just the latest in a series of incidents that have brought to light the physical and emotional abuses that some coaches heap on their players or students. In December of 2012, a teenager committed suicide, leaving a note saying he could not take anymore of the abuse he was suffering at the hands of his basketball coach. In January, Japan’s judo community was shocked when reports came out that the national women’s team coach was beating his athletes with a bamboo sword and emotionally torturing them as well. Then just earlier this month, world gold medalist and judo champion Shohei Ono was suspended from his university together with his other teammates for physically abusing the younger members of their squad.
