Last Weekend There Was Enough Heroin In New York City For Everyone To Get A Hit, But Now It’s Gone

To put that headline in perspective, there are 8.4 million people living in New York City. How much heroin is 8.4 million hits?

Try 150 pounds, now languishing in police evidence lockers thanks to DEA work in the Bronx. Yesterday, agents made the biggest heroin bust in New York state history, confiscating all that heroin and two fucking million dollars.

Dammmn, those some dutty drug dealers. From NBC New York:

The Drug Enforcement Administration and Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan called the heroin seizure the largest ever recorded by the DEA in New York state. Agents also arrested and recovered $2 million in cash.

“To put it in perspective, this load was so large it carried the potential of supplying a dose of heroin to every man, woman and child in New York City,” Brennan said in a statement.

Don’t tease us like that.

It appears the DEA brought down serious players, because these two guys had been moving this amount of weight every freaking month.

I had no idea people were using that much heroin.

Authorities believe the ring had been receiving similar-size shipments each month from suppliers in Mexico. They say it was a main source of heroin for users in New York City, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

Jesus. I couldn’t move that much heroin if I had a heroin moving machine specifically designed to move heroin. But these guys could.

This bust shatters the previous biggest heroin haul ever by police in New York City, which came back in February.
