Two kayakers in California barely escaped death as a massive humpback whale breached from the water and landed directly on top of their kayak.
From WPTZ News 5:
Captain Michael Sack was guiding a Sanctuary Cruises whale watching tour from a boat just outside Moss Landing harbor on Saturday when he witnessed an incredible, dangerous situation.
Tandem kayakers were paddling through a large pod of humpback whales that were gorging on krill and anchovy bait balls.
One whale launched its body into a full breach, and to people watching from the boat, it appeared the whale landed on top of a man and woman who were sharing a kayak.
The whale was estimated to be between 50,000 and 80,000 pounds and measuring to be up to 60 feet in length.
Avoiding a direct hit, the man and woman managed to make it safely back to shore with the help of on-lookers.
These two look to be quite happy for two people who were inches away from becoming fish food.
