Two shooters killed four people and wounded at least 10 others at the Washington Navy Yard this morning in the latest mass shooting to hit the United States. One of the shooters was described by police as wearing fatigues. And one is still "at large," believed to be pinned down between the third and fourth floors of one of the complex's buildings.
This is an ongoing situation. Details are still sketchy, and several news items could be flat-out wrong, but the Washington Post believes the shooting began around 8:20 a.m. in the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters building. Witnesses described a scene where they were fired on by a gunman described as a "tall, dark-skinned man," carrying was described as an assault rifle.
The Navy Yard is considered the ceremonial and administrative home of the U.S. Navy.
