The First Comedian to Do Stand-Up on Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ Was the Esteemed Jerry Seinfeld

Usually, late night TV stand-up is the domain of up-and-coming comedians. Letterman and Conan and Leno booked acts you’d never heard of, in an attempt to give them a big career boost. But for the first performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the new host went big, booking Jerry Seinfeld. And Seinfeld did not disappoint, although he did open with a little “What’s the deal with these cell phones?” schtick.
