This Is What A Planet Outside Our Solar System Looks Like Orbiting A Star

Have you ever seen video of a plant orbiting a star? Probably not, because we don’t have cameras turned back toward our solar system filming that shit (although we do have this sweet GIF of the moon passing Earth).

But we do have telescopes here pointed outward, trying to find planets like ours. This video comes from the Gemini South telescope in Chile. It’s pointed at Beta Pictoris b, which is a star 60 light years away from us. Fucking far. The planet you’re seeing is a gas giant ten times the size of Jupiter.
