Really sad news out of Jacksonville, Florida today, where 21-year-old University of Alabama offensive lineman Aaron Douglas was found dead last night. Condolences go out to Douglas's family, his former teammates and coaches at the University of Tennessee, and everyone down in Tuscaloosa, who already have enough to deal with in the wake of the devastating tornadoes that ripped through the campus. As if the situation isn't already sad enough, this afternoon ESPN's subscription "Insider" service blatantly exploited Douglas' death to break "exclusive news" to subscribers that five star offensive tackle recruit Cyrus Kouandjio now has a chance to start this season. Too soon? You betcha. Just another reminder that in ESPN's world of ratings and sponsorship deals, athletes are simply robots designed to grease the wheels of the sports media industrial machine. Not to editorialize, but kinda a classless move, no? A screenshot is pinging around Twitter this afternoon. Check out Albert Lin's "exclusive" below before it's inevitably pulled.
