We've had a couple people send us in this clip today and since first pitch in Game 2 of the World Series is just an hour away, we thought we'd finally get around to posting it. It's a live shot from a Dallas-based NBC reporter who's standing outside AT&T Park in San Francisco previewing the Giants-Rangers game. And then he takes a whiff and realizes that people just off camera are smoking weed. Which he eagerly reports to the anchors back in the studio in Texas.
As a Bay Area NBC affiliate writer explains:
If the reporter from our sister station in Dallas is any indication, the country thinks we are potheads. Newy Scruggs from NBCDFW said during his live report that people next to him "are smoking weed." The anchors then asked, "Is it legal there?" Ask that question again next week. Scruggs didn't do any real trash talking, unless you consider saying Giants fans are high on pot. He quickly added that we were "nice people," but said that was in part because we were "half buzzed out."
The "ask that question again next week" bit of course refers to the vote on Proposition 19 next Tuesday on whether the state should legalize marijuana. Check out the video after the jump.
