Photo Of Chicago Cop Buying Chipotle For Homeless Man Who Was Dumpster Diving Goes Viral

A veteran Chicago police officer wasn’t trying to go viral, he was just trying to show some compassion. However he managed to do both with this fantastic act of generosity.

Sergeant B. Hagarty, a 35-year veteran of the force who is retiring soon, was eating alone at a Chipotle in Chicago. While he was enjoying his delicious burrito, he noticed a homeless man dumpster diving outside. He motioned for the man to come inside the restaurant. Instead of harassing or embarrassing the man, Hagarty bought him food.

Rachel Mitchell witnessed Hagarty’s warm benevolence and was so moved by the gesture that she approached the police officer to tell him that the act of kindness made her day. Mitchell later posted about the awesome display of bigheartedness on her Facebook.

The post soon went viral and the Chicago Police Department was made aware of the amazing moment, and they acknowledged that it was Hagarty in the photo. The post has been shared over 10,000 times and has over 22,000 Likes.

We really need to have more magical moments of humanity from everyone, not just from police officers, but from politicians and regular citizens in general.
