Earlier this month we announced that we’ll be taking the Gillette Shave Challenge. Basically, we’re putting our face through the ringer with cheaper, inferior blades from monthly clubs to see how it compares to a shave from a premium razor, like the Gillette Fusion ProGlide. Shaving three or four times a week, we’ve been testing blades from Gillette’s subscription razor cartridge service, Gillette Shave Club, in 18 different categories, including closeness, comfort, and smoothness.
Here’s what we’re finding: Half-way through the month, we’re stoked to see that Gillette‘s cartridges haven’t dulled and are still delivering a remarkably smooth shave for being used every couple days. The dings, scratches, and dreaded under-the-neck irritation from other razors we’ve tried is definitely higher, especially if we let our stubble grow thick throughout the weekend. The performance is consistent: It’s grabbing as much hair in one swift stroke and leaving our face as smooth as velvet afterwards.
This is clutch for summer weekends, when you go into the weekend like a lamb and come out with a face like a lion.
