Brewery Releases A Dog Friendly Beer So Both You And Your Wing Dog Can Have A Beer And Talk About Bitches

Even though most restaurants in America have strict rules about bringing your dog to dinner, all across our great nation breweries are some of the most dog-friendly places, and often go out of their way to make breweries as welcoming as possible to wing dogs and canine companions. That’s why in an effort to upstage all the other breweries merely offering water for their canine clients the Flat 12 Bierwerks Brewery in Indiana has just released a 100% dog-friendly beer so that you and your wing dog can sip suds together at the brewery and talk about bitches, because if your wing dog could talk then obviously the first thing he’d bring up is bitches, right?

The dog-friendly beer from Flat 12 Bierwerks Brewery was officially unveiled this past Friday during a supply drive and pet adoption event held by the brewery. And according to the Indy Star, the dog beer is a non-alcoholic concoction made “using meat bones and trimmings donated from the brewery’s neighbor Smoking Goose. Brewers create a stock with bones, carrots, potatoes, and brewer’s yeast. The stock simmers for three hours before it is blended with wort, the liquid extracted from the mashing process when brewing actual beer. It all comes together in a keg.”

The dog beer from Flat 12 Bierwerks will run $1/bowl, and all proceed from the non-alcoholic dog beer will be donated to the local animal shelter. As for whether or not the dog-friendly beer from Flat 12 was good? I think this video of Porter the Chocolate Labrador is as good of a testimonial as you’ll ever see:

Why more breweries haven’t done this yet is beyond me. Most breweries already go out of their way to be inviting towards patrons with canine companions, often holding dogs days, having signage up stating ‘dogs welcome’, having dog bowls of water everywhere, and selling organic dog treats at the counter. Why not go that one extra step like Flat 12 Bierwerks and offer up a dog-friendly beer that the dogs will love?
