"Bo-Taoshi" isn't the name of a kinky new Japanese fetish involving freezers and Miracle-Gro; it's a strange sport that's all the rage across the Pacific these days. As we understand it, the "sport" is basically a scrappy game of capture-the-flag (greatest summer camp game of all time) on steroids. Deuce of Davenport explains:
Bo-Taoshi (Pole pull-down) is played by cadets at Japan’s National Defense Academy. The game itself, which consists of 150 people and a pole, is quite simple. 75 men have to defend their team’s pole while the other 75 try to take it down by any means necessary.
Punches and elbows are thrown, opponents and teammates are kicked, and people climb on top of each other. Watch the mayhem unfold below.
