I've seen this news story on a couple of websites over the past few days and, I'm not sure about you, but the whole thing makes me madder than hell. Cory Palek, a Bloomsburg University student and track team member, was knocked the f*ck out with a flagrant sucker punch this past Saint Patrick's Day. Last week assault charges were filed against Gage Shumbat, the sc*mbag perp who threw the punch. Here's the kicker: For some reason Palek, the kid who received the knock-out blow, was cited with a disorderly conduct charge, reports WNEP. For what? Instigating the fight? Waving his hat at the kid in the white shirt? Did he say something that truly crossed that line? Shumbat just ran away like a f*cking coward with his posse while Palek's body was sprawled unconscious and motionless against the cold, hard pavement. Such a dickhead move. Kid didn't even have time to get his arms up in defense. Even worse, no one stopped to help him until some presumably drunk chick noticed the PASSED OUT DUDE ON THE GROUND between munching bites of pizza. Not to be the guy who waves his arms up in the air and cries "travesty of justice," but I'm just totally scratching my head over why a victim is being punished by the powers that be (i.e.: small college town cops in a community that's always at war with the students who co-reside there as well) in this situation.
