In theory, Airbnb is awesome. It allows you to make $$$ off an economic good—your couch or spare bedroom or treehouse—that would’ve been unthinkably hard to advertise in the pre-Internet days. Think about it: in 1998 you place a classified ad in a newspaper to say your couch is available for the weekend of the 21st. Who’s going to take you up on that offer? Airbnb takes all the weirdness out of the interaction.
But in reality, humans are still humans, and we do some pretty weird shit. Like BBW orgies!
New York comedian Ari Teman came forward this week with a Airbnb horror story which went down on Friday night, after he matched up with a guy onlinenamed David Carter. Carter seemed legit, with a slew of positive reviews, and he told Teman he needed a place for his in-laws to stay while in town for a wedding.
Teman handed him the keys to his Chelsea place and went out to dinner. And when he returned to his apartment to grab his luggage, he found not Carter having a glass of wine with his in-laws, but an orgy filled with nude guys and obese women. Being shut down by building management.

“The worst part of the Internet right there was in my apartment,” Teman thought.
“There were all sorts of people walking out of my apartment and people coming in from the back yard. It was a huge mess.”
Teman said his apartment was trashed by a group of nearly nude, overweight people. After the shindig was broken up, Carter was a nervous wreck in the lobby, Teman said.
“This guy had a look of horror on his face,” Teman said. “He didn’t expect to see me for a few days. He said, ‘They shut us down, man, they’re shutting it down.’ ”
Tweets about the orgy—advertised as “Turn UP: The Pantie Raid” [sic]—included Teman’s Seventh Avenue and, if it couldn’t be more obvious, Carter’s phone number. Carter is considered to be the organizer of the event and easily could have pulled this stunt before, but he denies he did anything wrong.
Carter, however, claimed he just had a small, quiet get-together and that Teman was overreacting.
“I had six people, friends and family,” Carter told The Post. “He is making a big to-do because he is being evicted.”
Can a guy party in peace. Jeez.
Anyway, is this a possible new tagline for Airbnb? “For when your BBW orgy just needs a change of locale.”
