Imagine having the same name as a famous NFL player, getting shit for it all year long, and then the guy wins the Super Bowl and the MVP award and you finally have a reason to celebrate... until it gets you in a fight and the police get called. That's what happened to one Aaron Rogers, an Iowan man who shares the same name (though different spelling) as the Packer quarertback. His big Super Bowl night did not have such a happy ending.
According to the Des Moines Register:
Aaron Rogers, 23, of 220 Dickman Road, told police he was celebrating the victory of a man who shares his name — quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers over the Pittsburgh Steelers — when he became involved in an argument with a woman. When the argument became physical about 9:30 p.m. “… his kitchen was destroyed from food being thrown all over,” police said.
The woman’s two brothers became upset when they were asked to leave, officers said in a report. The altercation continued outside. Police said a fight broke out between Rogers and the two brothers. Rogers was thrown to the ground and received a back injury. Rogers told police both men went to a vehicle and drove away. There were no arrests. Officers could not locate the suspects.
I guess we should be thankful that Rogers only received a back injury and not a concussion like those that his namesake suffered earlier this season. At least with the NFL probably out of the question for the next season, the comparisons and beatdowns will wane in the coming year.
UPDATE: Vince Lombardi was arrested last night too! Here's his mug:
