For the last few days, we've been utterly baffled, infatuated, and mystified by a gnarly Brazilian dance craze called "Surra de Bunda." Our cachaca-and-futbol-loving janitor (and Gawker) tells us the name roughly translate to "butt fighting" in Portuguese. Essentially, the almost X-rated samba routine involves a girl throwing her legs atop the shoulders of her partner, who's simply stays seated on the floor. The girl who typically strips down to her undies to perform the dance is called a "Tequileira." As the music picks up tempo, the dancer proceeds to rhythmically thrust her ass cheeks as hard as possible against his face, bouncing her gluteus maximus off her partner's forehead like a basketball against a backboard.
Will the Surra de Bunda replace the lap dance? Nah, probably not. This absurd "butt fighting" trend has too high of a risk for concussions. However, if Brazil dominates on the pitch during the World Cup, we could see the Surra de Bunda momentarily blow-up into a full-fledge strip club phenomenon across the globe. Who knows? Come August, the catchy earworm accompanying the dance - known in Brazil as "Tirana Do Funk" -- could become a breakaway hit at every frat party and tailgate across the country. We're waiting for the dance go mainstream and be performed at bar mitzvahs, proms and weddings. Just try not to think about what kind of gross toilet seats your dance partner's been sitting on when she's ramming her pooper inches above your mouth. Because of all the seductive coed grinding, oscillating, and butt helmeting, the four must-watch videos below are definitely NSFW. Please wait until you leave the office. And finally, the wackiest one of all:
