ASPEN, Colo. — Ah, Aspen, a place where the beer flows like wine and beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. Over the last year, we’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about a small start-up brewery located in this quintessential Colorado mountain town. With all the makings of a Bro’s dream venture, Aspen Brewing Company was started by a couple of recent University of Colorado at Boulder grads who loved beer and aspired to craft it for a living. Since opening its doors in March 2008, the brewery has been stirring up some serious local hype while crafting a handful of awesome brews, including a super-hopped IPA that comes in at a ballsy 9% ABV.

With all that in mind, as well as the chance to stomp around some of the world’s finest cougar hunting grounds, we made Aspen Brewing Company the first stop on BroBible’s Colorado Tour. We sat down with Brad Veltman, one of the brewery’s founders, over a flight of beers and asked him about launching the new business, getting drunk on his own supply, and the looming 4/20 celebrations in nearby Boulder.
