What’s the trick behind these two Italian street performers?

This picture just contains two dudes near the Colosseum in Rome in Hindi attire relaxing. Oh, and one of them appears to be casually sitting on a very narrow pole. No big deal.

Joe Weisenthal of Business Insider posited a question asking, “How does this work?”

The answer seems obvious to me. Any guesses? The correct answer below.

That man has a pole up his butt.

Or, more likely, there’s a pedestal connected to the pole. But a colon full of rough wood shoved up the backside of a street performer is definitely my preferred guess here.
