Romanian man sues priests for not exorcising farting demons from his house

Romanian lawyer Madalin Ciculescu has a problem with farting demons. And since five men of the church couldn’t fix it, he’s taking them to court.

Ciculescu sued a local Orthodox bishop and four priests for fraud after they came by multiple times attempting to exorcise the “flatulent smell of demons” they said were haunting his business.

Ciculescu claims that not only did the priests’ efforts to get the demons out not work, the smells chased him to his central Romanian home as well.

No Romanian court is currently interested in picking up Ciculescu’s “religious malpractice” suit; both the Romanian High Court and a lower court have rejected hearing the case.

“When I am at home they switch the TV on and off all the time,” Ciculescu told the court in his pitch. “They make foul smells that give me headaches and basically roam unhindered around my house and my business.”

Lawyers for the archdiocese say that any allegations of fraud are misguided, telling the Daily Mail that the priests did what they were asked to do and that any demon problems are figments of Ciculescu’s imagination.

It’s unclear how much Ciculescu paid or what he’s attempting to accomplish with his case. The farting demons are not named in the suit, sadly.
