Louis C.K. tests his darkest material on his kids

No topic is off limits in the comedic mind of Louis C.K. If C.K. finds the angle, no matter who the target, it’s ripe for poking fun at.

This includes his own children.

Some of Louis C.K.’s funniest bits involved his two daughters. Is he worried that making the butt of the joke might further damage the two young girls down the line?

Not really.

In fact, Louis C.K. often tries out material on his oldest daughter. Even the dark stuff. He explained this process in a recent interview with GQ magazine.

“When my older daughter was about 8, I showed her the routine where I get explosively angry because she sucks at hide-and-seek. She thought it was hilarious. My girls and I make a lot of dark jokes together. In the upcoming season [of Louie], there’s a line from a conversation I had with my older girl. She was saying how whenever she sees a three-legged dog, it lifts her spirits, because three-legged dogs are wonderfully unaware that they have a malady. They just walk around, and they don’t give a shit. And I said, ‘You know, honey, they are lucky. But do you know the only thing luckier than a three-legged dog? A four-legged dog.’ And she really laughed. Whenever she laughs that hard at something dark? I know it’s good.”

I know Louis C.K. sometimes get crap for putting his kids on the business end of a joke, but there are countless other — and much awful — ways in which parents mentally scar their kids.

I bet she kills at open mic days in the school cafeteria with the four-legged dog material.
