You had one job, Geek Squad. Fix the computer and avoid scammin’ some nudes in the process. Now one woman is filing a lawsuit in Alabama after a Tuscaloosa Best Buy location’s employee allegedly couldn’t help himself.
Alabama’s WSFA reports:
“The seven-page civil lawsuit claims that in August 2011, the plaintiff, who also worked at the Best Buy on McFarland Avenue, brought her computer to the store and paid to have a problem with her hard drive fixed.
In May 2013, the plaintiff was notified by a co-worker that nude photos of her were circulating online. The lawsuit claims that a Geek Squad employee took the photos from the plaintiff’s computer, uploaded them to the Internet and also linked them on Pirate Bay.”
The photos belonged to a University of Alabama art student who used her feminine form for a class project.
The student claims that a coworker informed her of the breach of her privacy, which was probably a delightfully awkward conversation to have. “Hey, so, occasionally I troll the Internet for hot amateur content and I’m pretty sure I saw your labia. They’re everything I always thought they would be.”
The woman is suing for “invasion of privacy, outrageous conduct, breach of contract and negligent supervision and training,” which sums it up pretty well.
