Watch James Nielsen destroy the ‘beer mile’ in under 5 minutes

via YouTube

James Nielsen is a god among men. A really drunk god who’s good at running.

The former two-time Division III champion in the 5,000-meter set a new world record in the “Beer Mile” last week in Victoria, British Columbia. The previous record of 5:09 was held by Jim Finlayson. Finlayson is now just kind-of a god.

For those unaware, the Beer Mile requires “a single participant to drink a full-sized beer, run a quarter mile, then repeat the process three times. This results in the consumption of four beers and the running of four quarter miles (hence the beer mile). The entire process is timed. The total time is often used as a measuring stick of competency.”

Nielsen did all that in under five minutes. His beer of choice? Granville Island Winter Ale.

I vomit-burped just thinking about it.
