Today is ‘Guinness World Records Day’ if you haven’t heard already, and people all over the world are celebrating from NBC’s Al Roker attempting a record setting 34-hour weather newscast, to the world’s tallest man (Sultan Kosen is 8’9″) meeting the world’s shortest man (Chandra Bahadur Dangi is 1’9.5″).

The two met in London to celebrate ‘Guinness World Records Day’ and the pictures are astounding.

From Slate:

Today is “Guinness World Records Day,” and the record-keepin’ company celebrated with a meeting between the world’s tallest and shortest men in London. Turkey’s Sultan Kosen is 8’9″ and Nepal’s Chandra Bahadur Dangi is 1’9.5″. Kosen is a 31-year-old farmer and Dangi is a 74-year-old who makes “placemats and head straps for villagers carrying heavy loads,” AFP writes.
“Even though he is short and I am tall, we have had similar struggles throughout our lives,” Kosen said, “and when I look into Chandra’s eyes I can see he is a good man.”

Check out the pictures, these are the very definition of juxtaposition:
