Despite Universal’s smashing success of its Fast & Furious franchise, it’s never received the mainstream credibility that other franchises have as the New York Times eloquently stated in a recent article. It’s rabid fan base, boasting over 25 million Facebook fans, has been the driving force behind much of its success and has even played a role in the direction that the franchise has gone. The perfect example is the resurrection of Michelle Rodriguez’s character, Letty. After seemingly being killed in 2009’s Fast and Furious, fans of the film took to the interwebs to voice their displeasure in her being killed off. After taking in much of the feedback and even catching wind of an online petition to bring her back, the film’s star, Vin Diesel, led the campaign of resurrecting her character. Sure enough, in the upcoming Fast & Furious 6 Michelle Rodriguez’s super spicy bod will once again grace the big screen. To be fair, her gritty tomboy persona and on screen presence give much more to the franchise than her simple visual integrity, but let’s enjoy anyway.
