Woah, this is insane. World, meet the Captive Air Amphibious Transporter (CAAT), a state-of-the-art pontoon boat developed by the US Military's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (a.k.a. DARPA). Driven by two belts of giant inflatable treads, the CAAT seamlessly glides across the water. Amazingly enough, the boat in the video is only a 1/5-scale model; a full scale model will weigh a hefty 20 tons. Still, I can't imagine how awesome it'd look to cruise up and down the East River in this bad boy on a Sunday Funday, waving at freaked out dog walkers in Carl Schurz Park. Show of hands if you want one for recreational purposes.
