What the hell are we doing? Why are we creating a monster like this?

We’ve all seen the movies where robotics become self-aware and rise up to destroy mankind. When that inevitably happens, this one will have rote knowledge of how to kill us with cinder blocks.

How can scientists be both so smart and so dumb at the same time?
