Adidas’ New SpringBlade Drive Sneaker Looks Like a Game-Changer

We are big fans of sneakers around here, especially if the sneaker bringing something crazy to the table. And the SpringBlade Drive from adidas does just that with their energy focused innovation.

Unlike standard EVA midsoles that deliver energy return in a vertical direction, SpringBlade Drive features 16 forward angled blades made out of a high-tech polymer. The highly elastic blades instantaneously react to any environment, compressing and releasing energy to create an efficient push-off that feels like you have springs under your feet.  Additionally, SpringBlade Drive’s flexible construction was designed to hug the top of a runner’s foot, locking it in to harness the energy returned from the springs on the outsole. For top performance in all environments, SpringBlade Drive is seven times more temperature resistant than shoes with adidas’ standard EVA cushioning.

See then in action — on the feet of Sammy Watkins, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 Draft by the Buffalo Bills — below.

Springblade Drive is available Wednesday for $180 at adidas.com. The colorways for men are: Solar Red/Black/Solar Red, Black/Onix/Silver Metallic, Blue Beauty/Black/Solar Gold, White/Black/White, and Black/Solar Red/Black.
