1987's "Robocop" was one of the best movies of the '80s—it was a film that seemed to be just your run-of-the-mill action flick, until it revealed itself to be a brilliant satire on violence in cities and the Cold War problem with American military over-spending.
"Robocop" also will always hold a special place in my heart because I once managed to write an academic paper on it by comparing Robocop Alex Murphy to Jesus. College!
Now, 25 years later, "Robocop" is coming back with a reboot starring Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman as Murphy. It's not set to come out until August of next year, but the film released a teaser today that shows several of the same defense weapons that were featured in the original flick, including the ED-209. It also prominently features Omnicorp's drones, a clever nod to the very real fact that military drones will soon be flying over our American cities. Are you excited about another '80's remake?
