Steven Spielberg finally released the full trailer for "Lincoln" yesterday after that wholly unsatisfying teaser earlier in the week, and we have mixed feelings on it.

On the one hand, the resemblance between Daniel Day-Lewis and the 16th president is absolutely uncanny. Day-Lewis is known to totally throw himself in his roles, only taking one film project every two or three years, and he definitely spent some time going for the right look and voice here. Lincoln's voice was reportedly surprisingly high-pitched, and the lack of a deep baritone will be the first thing you notice when you watch Day-Lewis in the trailer. But while it might sound jarring, Spielberg and Day-Lewis are going for realism, so kudos to that.

On the other hand... It all seems pretty sappy. You've got the whole John Williams over-the-top score, the melodramatic talks about Lincoln being "the right man," the speeches from the president to his cabinet. All of which points to this being more "War Horse" and less "Saving Private Ryan." Let's just hope that's not the case.

"Lincoln" comes out Nov. 16.
