Hey, look! It's Tom Cruise starring in a sci-fi movie. What's next, Will Smith in a sci-fi movie?

Despite the unorginality in casting choices, this flick looks like it could be an enjoyable couple of hours come April: Morgan Freeman co-stars and it's Morgan Freeman in a big role, so it'll at least be pleasant to listen to. Plus, I'm getting a strong "Minority Report" vibe from the technology (and I guess the actor), and that movie kicked ass.

The trailer contains that time-honored Hollywood cliche of having Cruise explain his job to someone who presumably already knows what his job is, but again, here's the basic premise, via IMDB:

A court martial sends a veteran soldier to a distant planet, where he has to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveler causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself.

"Oblivion" opens April 19.
