Stefon—long one of the best recurring characters on "Saturday Night Live"—was sorely missing in the post-Sandy SNL shows, as Brandon correctly pointed out a few weeks ago. Who wouldn't have wanted to hear how our favorite club kid dealt with the power outages below 40th street? Would there be some easy (yet funny) jokes about how he partied in the dark?

Anyway, here's a video of Bill Hader explaining the character's roots, which should tide Stefon fans over as we hit the one-month mark without a Weekend Update appearance. Enjoy it before, what, spring of 2013? when everyone is tired of him.
