What to watch tonight: ‘Parenthood’, ‘Elementary’ season premieres

I like Michael J. Fox, I really do. As a kid I liked him in Family Ties and Back to the Future. Less so in Teen Wolf. As an adult, I enjoyed Spin City, though admittedly I was not a regular watcher. He’s a wonderfully talented actor, an excellent entertainer and….I won’t be watching his show tonight.

I don’t understand most network decisions. Great shows are canceled and shows like Two and a Half Men get 10-year-runs. It doesn’t make sense.

I’ve seen the clip for the Michael J. Fox show. It’s not good. In fact, it’s downright bad. If it last more than a season or two, I’ll be shocked.

My TV musings aside, here’s what you need to watch tonight.

Parks and Recreation @ 8pm, CBS: Is this the best comedy on TV right now not named South Park?

Elementary @ 10pm, CBS: I love the simplicity of this show. It’s straightforward and doesn’t try too hard. Also, it stars Lucy Liu and Lucy Liu is pleasant on the eyes.

Parenthood @ 10pm, NBC: Yet another show that’s simply and straightforward. Parenthood is about families and their problems. Sure, the drama is overboard, way overboard at times but it’s watchable. That’s why it’s received a longer run.

Niners-Rams @ 8:30pm, NFL Network: It’s not a must-win game for the Niners but wow, they need to get their act together. Last week’s loss
