5 ‘Last Comic Standing’ contestants move into top ten and how NBC ruined the results – RECAP

NBC

Fourteen comics performed on Last Comic Standing last night with five moving on to the top ten. Which Last Comic Standing contestants moved on?

The format of the show changed this week as mentors Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes appeared for the first time to give pointers and critiques to the fourteen Last Comic Standing contestants performing this week. Wanda and Amy critiqued all of the Last Comic Standing contestants but only segments with Jimmy Shubert, Mike Vecchione, Karlous Miller, Aida Rodriguez, Monroe Martin and Joe Machi were featured. This absolutely ruined the show — more on that in a second.

I realize no one from NBC is reading these show recaps, but I’m going to make a suggestion anyway, in case anyone over at 30 Rockefeller stumbles upon it. Dear Peacock, you’re missing out on a ton of show exposure by not posting each of the Last Comic Standing contestants sets online. I can’t be alone in wanting to see entire sets, especially from the comics who didn’t get a fair share of air time. Also, seeing random jokes from a stand-up set is like reading random chapters of a book. Sure, chapter five was good, but reaching chapter four makes it even more entertaining? Feel me?

The rest of the Last Comic Standing contestants were shown in chopped up clips and video montages. Sadly, more than a few of the comics only appeared on screen for a minute or two. Such is the nature of TV — only so much time can be devoted to each comic in an effort to get every one of the Last Comic Standing contestants air time.

The judges pick their favorites and Monroe Martin, Joe Machi, Karlous Miller, Aida Rodriguez and Jimmy Shubert move into the top ten. Aside from Mike Veccione, all of these comics were featured in the critique portions of the show. Does that mean next weeks episode will spoil the winners too? Hopefully not.

Next week, fourteen more Last Comic Standing contestants and five move on to round out the top ten. Then the challenge rounds begin.
