Last Comic Standing 2014 week 2 is in the books. Eight more comics have moved onto the semifinal round in season 8 of Last Comic Standing. The first ten semifinalists were chosen during the first episode of Last Comic Standing last week. Who advanced in Last Comic Standing 2014 week 2?

For those just catching on to the show, things have changed since the previous seasons. The first four episodes of the season 8 of Last Comic Standing, called Invitationals, consist of one hundred invited comedians by an NBC panel. The winning comics then move on to the semifinals.

Who moved one step close to the money, the NBC developmental deal, and the title? Who was left standing after Last Comic Standing 2014 week 2? On to the recap.

Last Comic Standing 2014 week 2 recap

Last Comic Standing 2014 week 2 kicked off with Tony Baker and his teen son working out to eventually take him out, role-playing during family game night and slumlords. Keenan Ivory Wayans said he could relate to Tony’s bit about kids (since he’s got thousands of family members) and Roseanne and Russell both applauded his original material with “several twists”

Alingon Mitra is a tax consultant by day and a stand-up at night. “There isn’t very much funny about the IRS.” Keenan loved Aligon’s mild-mannered delivery with such edgy material.

Next up on Last Comic Standing 2014 week 2 was DC Benny. Benny is from Washington, DC “the only state that celebrates white history month. Kelly Price is the mother of four. There is nothing funny about that at all. Luckily, Kelly was funny.

Randy Liedtke is the first one-liner and pun comic of the competition. His Kurt and Rod’s Curtain Rods brought a chuckle out of the wife. He doesn’t smoke pot but Roseanne highly suggests it to him.

Vinnie Brand, season comic and comedy club owner, and quick hits from Mike Lawrence, Hampton Yount and Emily Galati do quick stage shots with Emily Galati getting huge props from Roseanne Barr.

Next up on Last Comic Standing 2014 week 2 is Chloe Hillard —  an African American comic from Brooklyn who thinks she’s a Jew because she grew up in a Hasidic neighborhood. Gerald Kelly was next up, followed by Keith Alberstadt,Kimberly Clark and Zainab Johnson.

Rocky LaPorte, a road comic for 26 years, is the stand-up performer of the night. If practice makes perfect, Rocky has been practicing for 26 years. His performance was near perfect.

The judges vote and the eight comics moving on to the semifinals of Last Comic Standing 2014 are Chloe Hillard, Alingon Mitra, Gerald Kelly, Zainab Johnson, DC Benny, Emily Galati and Rocky LePorte.

Last Comic Standing 2014 — 5 more early favorites

Last week, I chose five early favorites out of the ten comics who advanced. Here’s a few performers from this week who have a strong shot at the title of Last Comic Standing.

Alingon Mitra

His smooth delivery and odd background make him a heavy favorite with fans and the judges. Who doesn’t love a funny accountant?

Rocky LaPorte and DC Benny

Two road warriors who have time, and talent, on their side.

Emily Galati

Roseanne called her writing “smart” and she’s got a quick wit but adorably quirky delivery.

Zainab Johnson

A true wild card. Funny, raw, honest with an amazingly different look than the other comics.

So who made the biggest impression last night? Who’s got the best shot?
