Good thing he won, or else this could have been awkward. So during this last election, people did a lot of talking about the great physical shape Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan was in. Magazines even published pictures of him working out! But for Leslie Knope on Parks & Recreation, there was only one sexy player in the second seat: current (and re-elected) VP Joe Biden.

Leslie’s attraction to the Happy Warrior has been a running joke throughout the show’s history, even remarking “Joe Biden is on my celebrity sex list — well, he is my celebrity sex list,” last season. And now the show has accomplished a pretty rare coup: they got the Vice President of the United States to make a cameo. Not bad for a show everybody thought was going to be cancelled six months ago. Entertainment Weekly has the details on how the cameo got set up and what we can expect for Biden’s screen time.

The cast and crew was in Washington this July to film the season premiere, and they got in touch with Biden’s people to see if he could spare a few for the shoot. In the episode, a meeting with Joe is a surprise engagement present from Ben to Leslie, but they couldn’t air the episode until after the election because of the “equal time” rules that mandate candidates need to be fairly represented in terms of unpaid media time. Apparently they also shot a little extra footage in case Obama didn’t win, but I guess we’ll never need to see that.

Joe Biden’s episode of Parks and Recreation airs November 15th at 9:30PM.
