Xaphoon Jones Retires from Chiddy Bang

After the extensive touring that followed their major debut album Breakfast  supporting artists such as Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, Fun. and others, Xaphoon Jones, production half of Chiddy Bang, has decided to gracefully bow out from the group.  Ensuring via their Facebook that the two were still tight and would still be collaborating on future material, the move keeps Xaphoon (real name Noah Beresin) from having to come on tour and allows Chiddy to branch out and work with other producers; a win-win that seemed to be the only conclusion following the lack of material coming from the Drexel-originated group.

Since their single Opposite of Adults made it's way onto HotNewHipHop some 4 years ago, I have been an absolute monster fan of all things Swelly; more specifically the way their producer Xaphoon Jones was able to flip indie songs and sample them into hip-hop beats. Chiddy was no slouch either; the man broke the Guiness Book of World Records mark for continuous freestyling by rapping for over 9 hours straight. Their debut free mixtape The Swelly Express is still one of my favorite complete projects to date and sebsequent releases such as Air Swell, the duo's ode to the UK, and free tape Peanut Butter and Swelly represented the pride I had of being a fan of artists who I knew were destined for the limelight with time. Check the track below if you're unfamiliar with their music and want to get an idea of what the hype's all about and check his SoundCloud here if you want to stay up to date.
