Pop Radio Is Trying Their Hardest To Kill Hozier, The Proof Is In The Pudding

Hozier’s ‘Take Me To Church’ is easily the most played song on pop radio in the past twelve months. From the second he dropped the track on through the Grammy’s, radio has been hellbent on killing it by playing it over-and-over-and-over-over-and-over-and-over-over-and-over-and-over-over-and-over-and-over-over-and-over-and-over-over-and-over-and-over-over-and-over-and-over-over-and-over-and-over….but you get the point.

Here in NYC we live in a sort of insular world where we rarely hear the radio, and only really catch new songs at bars/clubs/shows or when traveling, but even here I’m keenly aware at just how overplayed this track is. It’s 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on pop radio. And even though my life is devoid of radio, even I know they’re trying to kill Hozier with a plague of locusts….but why?

Thankfully for me when I swung by my local coffee joint this morning on the walk into work the speakers were pumping this hot track. And even though I listened to Hozier’s ‘Take Me To Church’ like five times in the course of blogging this, I’m now going down a deep Dead spiral all day:
