Move over Johnny Depp, there are new pirates in town. The trailer for Captain Phillips, Tom Hanks new movie based on the real life Maersk Alabama hijacking, shows what happens Somali pirates stop being nice and start being real.
It seems like terrible timing for this movie. We are too far removed from the constant stories about pirates commandeering vessels like we had a couple years ago, but it also hasn’t been long enough for people to become re-insterested. It’s a great story of bravery, and Captain Phillips deserves to have his story told, but I just don’t see that many people caring at this point. Hopefully I’m wrong because the movie looks really good.
One thing we can all agree on is that Tom Hanks should really just stay away from the ocean. Nothing good seems to come of it.
