Dave Grohl can make movies now? Who knew? They say you should write about what you know, so it’s good that the Foo Fighters singer’s first movie is about the nuts and bolts of making rock & roll. Sound City is about a legendary Los Angeles recording studio of the same name that was responsible for some of the greatest albums ever recorded, from Neil Young’s After The Gold Rush to Nirvana’s Nevermind. The studio, which was owned and operated by the same family since 1970, closed forever last year, and Grohl decided to immortalize its contributions to the world of music. Sound City premieres at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
