‘Man of Steel’ featurette shows Superman in real world

By / 05.30.13

Christopher Nolan’s Batman was loved partly because it was grounded in reality. Man of Steel sought to accomplish the same thing, but it’s tough to do with Superman. This featurette shows new footage of some of the ways in which they try.

The obvious problem is that Superman is a flying alien, and there’s just no way to maker that seem normal. Instead, they tried to make everything around him seem more genuine, and if that means destroying real stores, so be it. Sears was torture to walk around when I was a kid, so I’m glad it’s gone. Thanks, Man of Steel!
