YES! A ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ TV Show Is Coming To Netflix And EVERYONE Is In It

The 2001  satirical comedy Wet Hot American Summer is one of my favorite movies of all time. Michael Showalter’s character Gene, the batshit crazy camp cook who’s a Vietnam War vet, will never not crack me up. Fondle my sweaters:

Wet Hot American Summer a cult classic at this point, especially now that its cast is largely consider some of the most successful names in showbiz: Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Judah Friedlander, Ken Marino, etc. etc. etc. Rumors about a sequel have circulated for years. Today, however, Netflix has announced that they’re turning it into a series with more or less the original cast. The series will revisit the kids and counselors of Camp Firewood during the summer of 1981, when the movie originally took place, but instead tell the “first day of Camp Firewood’s famous summer season.” As you’ll recall, the movie took place on the last day of camp.
